TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian government, represented by the Terrorism Eradication Coordination (KPT) body, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Japanese government (JICA).
In the MoU, it was stipulated that the Japanese government would provide grants to the Indonesian government in the form of training and investigation equipment to help eradicate terrorism in Indonesia.
KPT chairman, Insp. Gen. Ansaad Mbai, said that was the second time that such grants had been received that they would soon be realized.
Previously, the Japanese government had provided airport and seaport security equipment to help the Indonesian authorities’ efforts in eradicating terrorism.
Under the current MoU, the Japanese government will first carry out a preparatory study to find out what equipment will improve terrorism eradication measures in Indonesia.
According to Mbai, the Japanese government will also give support in the form of identification, laboratory, and surveillance equipment and other equipment recommended by the National Police headquarters (HQ).
