10 Years Imprisonment Demanded for Abu Yasad

TEMPO Interactive, Medan, North Sumatra:During a trial at the Medan District Court on Monday (14/06), public prosecutor Nilma Lubis demanded a sentence of 10 years imprisonment for Abu Yasad aka Awaluddin, the suspect in a church bombing in Medan, less time already served in detention.
Yasad is suspected of having planted bombs in the church in Medan in May 2000 and is likely be charged under article 1 sub section 1 of Emergency state decree number 12/1951 juncto article 55 sub section 1 of Criminal Code.
Prosecutor Lubis stated that this was based on the testimonies of 19 witnesses in the case, including the owner of Yasad’s rented house on Sukabudi Street, Medan, and several pieces of evidence. (Bambang Soed-Koran Tempo)
