Police Issue Licenses for 70 Prosecutors’ Weapons

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Police have issued a possession license for 70 weapons for prosecutors all over Indonesia.

According to National Police Intelligence and Security Board head, Insp. Gen. Zamrich Anwar, the license was issued last Monday (31/05). “

The license was issued for 70 weapons,” Anwar told Tempo News Room on Friday (04/06).

According to National Police headquarters (HQ) spokesman, Insp. Gen. Paiman, the weapons are Beretta 32 pistols.

The police have let the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) manage everything regarding possession of the weapons.

“It’s up to the AGO to choose the prosecutors who will have the weapons,” stated Paiman.

The prosecutors will then report to the police in the areas in which they work.

Paiman said that the weapons should be held not only by the prosecutors who were handling terrorism cases.

However, the local police should provide the prosecutors with training so that they do not misuse the weapons. (Martha Warta - Tempo News Room)
