President Megawati Leaves For Iran
17 Pebruari 2004

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri departed to Iran today (17/2) for a visit that will last until February 20.


The president, accompanied by Minister of Trade and Industry Rini Soewandi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nur Hassan Wirajuda, will attend the fourth Summit Meeting of D-8 countries.


The president and her delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusumah this morning (7/2) at 07.10 am, aboard the A-330 Airbus presidential plane GIA-1.


Megawati is scheduled to arrive at Mehrabat international airport, Tehran, on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30 pm Western Indonesian Time and then meet with Islamic Republic of Iran President Mohammad Khatami.


On Wednesday (18/2), the president is to attend the D-8 Countries’ Summit at the Hafeziyeh Compound Sadabad Palace.


Among the country leaders attending the Summit are those from Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey and Pakistan.


Megawati is also scheduled to meet with Iranian spiritual leader, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, during her visit and will return to Jakarta on Thursday (20/2).
