Jakarta Police Crack Down Online Gambling Sites

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Jakarta police cracked down two on-line gambling network based in Jakarta, serving different types of gambling and betting with combined daily turnover of around Rp500 million.

Public Communication Chief of Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said in a press conference on Tuesday (4/5), two men were arrested at a house in Villa Kapuk Mas housing complex and several evidence were seized after stakeout since April, without disclosing the exact time.

Sen. Comm. Boy said the two suspects were and agent and a player and some evidence found include a laptop, transaction notes, bank books (eight of Bank Central Asia and one of Bank Mandiri), and Rp495 million.

But site administrators and the bookmaker according to rafli had fled overseas, enabling the two sites, www.Ibcbet.com dan www.casino.sbobet.com, continue to run.

A suspect named Benny, 25 claimed to be the runner between the bettors and the bookmaker.

The games provided in the sites include poker, roulette, bacarrat, and european footbal leagues betting.
