TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Corruption Eradication Commission questioned the chief director of local bank chain Artha Graha, Andy Kasih, in the investigation of the bribe scandal during the selection of Senior Deputy Governenor of Bank Indonesia in 2004.
Spokesman for the anti-graft body Johan Budi said Andy was questioned as witness in the investigation upon four ex lawmakers, Dudhie Makmun Murod of Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Endin Sofihara of United Development Party (PPP), Udju Djuhaeri of the military and police faction, dan Hamka Yandhu of Golkar Party.
Andy was among three businessmen banned by the commission to leave the country, the two others are Hidayat Lukman and Budi Santoso of PT First Mujur Plantation.
The case emerged as lawmaker from Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle admitted that the finance commission leading the process to select the new deputy governor of Bank Indonesia received bribes in forms of traveller's cheque in 2004.
The selection put Miranda Swaray Goeltom on the post beating her fellow central bankers, Budi Rochadi and Hartadi A. Sarwono.
