Electricity Supply to Jakarta's Thousand Islands Cut

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Auhority in Pulau Seribu Regency in North of Jakarta reported on Tuesday that about four islands in the strings of over 100 small islands north of the capital have been left without electricity for 10 days.
Spokesman for Pulau Seribu Regency Purwoto said the power cut was caused by a damaged undersea line, and has affected around 10,000 residents in Untung Jawa Island, Tidung Island, Pari Island, and Payung Island.
Purwoto said the condition has disrupted public services. Local authorities were also unable to generate power using existing generator set as the government have reduce fuel supply to the region after electricity supply entered some of the islands.
Electricity for some islands in the Thousand Islands were supplied from Teluk Naga coal power plant in Tangerang Regency, Banten. Not all islands have been supplied with electricity.
