TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. is training a thousand small- and medium-scale enterprises debtors to increase their human resources quality in financial management.
Sukoriyanto Saputro, Bank Mandiri's Micro Business Senior Vice President, said that weak financial management made small-scale enterprise players often encounter impediments in accessing finance.
“Therefore Bank Mandiri needs to train entrepreneurs to increase their human resources quality, so our support is not only funding and financial services but also training,” said Sukoriyanto in a press release received in Jakarta, Monday (25/2).
Up until the fourth quarter of 2007, Bank Mandiri disbursed SME loans amounting to Rp2.2 trillion.
This amount was an increase of 14.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year when the total of loans disbursed to SMEs was around Rp1.9 trillion.
Loans were disbursed to around 110,000 micro businesses in the country and the program, according to Sukoriyanto, has been running well.
This can be seen from the fact that since the program was launched in 2004 up until 2007, cumulative loan growth every year amounted to 43 percent.
