Wednesday, 14 February, 2007 | 15:26 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Pertamina-StatOil is competing with three foreign companies in a regular tender for oil and gas blocks in the Makassar Straits.

StatOil is a Norwegian oil and gas company.

“Four companies are interested in the tender. In addition to Pertamina, which is working together with StatOil, all the others are foreign companies,” said R. Priyono, Director of Upstream Business Management at the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, on Monday (02/12) in Jakarta.

He added that the one of the blocks in the Makassar Straits that the companies were most interested in was the Karama Block.

This block is estimated to have oil reserves of more than 200 million barrels.

“The auction winner will be announced by the end of the month,” said Priyono.
