Workers Call for Investigative Audit of Jamsostek

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: A group of workers and businesspeople are urging the Development Finance Controller (BPKP) to carry out an investigative audit into the finances of the State Social Security company PT Jamsostek
The reason for this is that workers and businesspeople suspect the missing Jamsostek levy records which has caused financial losses for workers was due to the weak administration system.
“So, the amount could now amount to trillions of Rupiah,” Djimanto told Tempo last weekend.
According to him, the groups of worker who have suffered the most losses most are workers in the construction sector.
This is because the type of work is temporary, only one month or a year, which was then extended.
The other groups are workers who lost their jobs for a while, then became unemployed and went back to work.
“The previous levy records are gone,” said Djimanto.
A similar opinion was cited by Bambang Wirahyoso, President of the All-Indonesia Workers Union (SPI).
According to him, many members lost their levies because they were not aware of their rights.
Therefore, Bambang went on to say, the BPKP had to carry out an investigative audit and not only an operational audit.
A Tempo source at the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry said that the BPKP will carry out an operational audit.
