Indonesia Not to Borrow from IMF Anymore
Monday, 22 January, 2007 | 16:37 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for the Economy Boediono has confirmed that the government has no plan of proposing more loans from the International Monetary Funds (IMF).
This affirmation is in line with the arrival of Executing Director of IMF Rodrigo de Rato for a visit to Indonesia on January 23-24.
“He will visit, there’s nothing substantial in that,” said Boediono on Friday (01/19).
During the upcoming meeting, said Boediono, the government would only explain about projected Indonesian economics this year, including its supporting policies.
Then, the IMF official will deliver his views on these Indonesian economic projections.
Boediono emphasized that Indonesia was no longer under the observation of the IMF.
This means that there will not be anything that must be reported to the institution.
“It will be a usual discussion. Should there be good input, we will accept it,” said Boediono.
