Oil-Gas and Private Electricity Contracts Signed

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Upstream Oil and Gas Executing Body (BP Migas) signed 16 contracts of oil and gas working areas. In addition, 10 contracts of a private electricity project between contractor and PT PLN (Persero) were also signed. The signing was done on Tuesday (01/16).
Total investment of 16 new contracts of the working areas reached US$200 million. Certain commitment for the first three years of exploration period of the 16 contractors include biology and geophysics studies valued to US$23.7 million; 3-D seismic survey of 1,280 square kilometers of US$22.77 million; and exploration well drilling commitment, with 26 wells, valued at US$125.40 million. Signing bonuses that the government will immediately achieve reach US$25.45 million.
In addition, PLN and private electricity producer signed 10 projects of private electricity generating plants with a total capacity of 423 megawatt. The partnership was estimated as gaining investment of US$462.2 million and Rp158.9 billion.
Director General of Electricity and Energy Utilization J. Purwono said that the 10 partnership projects will seek for financing resources from national banks. He said he hoped that such national banks as Bank Niaga, Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia (BCA) and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) would be willing.
