Five Regions Control SBIs

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said that Riau, East Kalimantan, Greater Jakarta, East Java and Aceh were the main provinces that placed much of their budgets in Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBIs).

The five regions deposited their regional budgets in regional development banks.

This phenomenon has occurred because the amount of budgets was too large.

After being disbursed for 24 development-obligated projects, there is still some of the funds remaining.

However, as for other regions that have not yet carried through their liabilities, the government will still tighten control.

The Department of Finance and the Department of Home Affairs will ask every region to report their financial conditions.

Should there be any violations, the government will hold back the disbursement of funds.
