BPK to Cooperate with Neighboring Countries

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: On its 60th anniversary, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) cooperated with the audit agencies of Thailand and Brunei Darussalam. In its press statement yesterday (8/1), BPK stated the cooperation is focused on a public audit which is a regional need and challenge. Indonesia had signed a similar agreement with Malaysia.
The focused area is environmental audit, especially natural disasters such as tsunami, earthquakes, floods and mudflow. Also included are air pollution, forest fire and biodiversity. Other areas that were proposed were taxes, bird flu and investigative audits.
This cooperation covers information and knowledge, exchanging skills of development methodology and state coffers monitoring. This cooperation is also in the field of human resources quality improvement and expertise and experience exchange in information technology.
BPK Head Anwar Nasution said the background of this cooperation is that the four countries face similar problems.
