Spare Parts Purchasing to Be Funded by State Budget

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Secretary General at the National Defense Department, has said the purchase of aircraft spare parts from Russia will totally use up Rupiah funding from the State Budget.
The purchase of six Sukhoi fighter planes will be funded using export credit facilities.

“This will be done gradually until 2009,” said Sjafrie in Jakarta, yesterday (26/4).

The export credit facilities, he said, are more beneficial because the interest is low and do not require guarantees.

Regarding the Sukhoi purchase mechanism, Sjafrie said he did not know for sure because it is still being discussed by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Finance Department.
