TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Indonesia is to replace Iran and become the Developing Eight (D-8) Countries Chairman for the 2006-2007 period.
The chairmanship transfer will be held on May 13 during the D-8 Fifth Summit in Bali.
“The summit focus is on millennium development goals,” said M. Slamet Hidayat, the Multilateral Director General, in Jakarta yesterday.
The summit will start with a commissioner level meeting on May 9-10, followed by a foreign affairs ministerial meeting.
On May 12, country leaders will arrive in Bali and on May 13 the summit begins.
“If the Nigerian prime minister attends, this will be the first summit attended by all the leaders of member countries,” said Hidayat.
