TEMPO Interactive, Denpasar: Sanglah Hospital in Bali received a Danish national with flu symptoms on Thursday. He was sent from a private hospital after he was suspected of being infected with the swine flu virus.
Head of Medical Service Unit of the hospital, Dr. I Gusti Lanang Suaratana, said the 84 year-old male was admitted at around 2 pm local time. “He was sent from a private hospital in Denpasar and declared a swine flu suspect,” I Gusti said.
I Gusti said the Danish man suffered from fever and flu, and had been treated at the Denpasar hospital since Wednesday, but that he did not know how long the man had been in Bali nor by what air line or travel routing he came from.
Previously, the hospital treated six expatriate patients, four of whom were Australian, one was from Germany and another from Argentina.
Two of the Australian patients, aged 14 and 12 had been tested positive with the virus. While two other Australians, aged 23 and 24, along with the 43 year-old male from Germany and 22 year-old Argentinian male were still undergoing tests.
The hospital said the test results on samples of liquids from the four patients had not been returned from Jakarta, while the two Australian teenagers, according to I Gusti Lanang, have been isolated from the other patients, “as they are about to fully recover.”
